Managing media assets like videos, audio, images, and documents is now easier with the Course media library. Instead of storing media in your personal My Library, media is now owned by the course, within itself. In short, each course will have its own media.
This change makes it easier for teams to collaborate, organize assets, and keep everything related to a course in one place.
Upload and manage media within a course
When you add any media to a course, it’s automatically stored in that course’s Course media library.
Here’s how it works:
Add a media content block to your course page (it can be an image, video, audio, or even a document content block).
Click Choose from library
The Course media library opens, where you can:
View all media assets that belong to the current course
Search within the course library to quickly find files
Upload media from your device
Edit existing media (rename, trim, add subtitles, download, or delete)
Browse media from other courses you have access to if you want to reuse assets
By keeping media scoped to the course, the library stays organized and relevant, making it much easier to find the assets you need while building your course.
Collaborate on media with co-authors
The Course media library also improves collaboration.
When a co-author is added to a course, they automatically get access to the course’s media assets. This means co-authors can:
Edit or replace existing media
Reuse media across pages in the course
Work on the same assets without needing to re-upload files
Previously, the media was tied to the person who uploaded it. This made collaboration difficult because other authors couldn’t modify those files. Now, since media belongs to the course, teams can collaborate more smoothly and avoid unnecessary duplication.
Why this change helps
Moving to a course-owned media library solves several common challenges authors used to face:
Media is easier to find because it’s organized per course.
Co-authors can work with the same assets without restrictions.
Teams avoid duplicate uploads and missing files.
Course content stays consistent even if team members change.
Overall, the Course media library helps authors spend less time managing files and more time creating high-quality learning content.
