Course discussions make it easy for authors and learners to ask questions, share thoughts, and discuss course topics — all in one place. As an author, you can either start a conversation, provide answers or your feedback, and see how learners are interacting with your content.
Note: Course discussions are a part of courses shared via private links only.
What is course discussions?
Course discussions is a discussion board/ forum within courses, where authors and learners can asynchronously interact with each other on the course content. Learners and authors can participate anytime, keeping discussions flexible and always accessible.
This feature helps authors to:
Collect feedback and insights from learners
Encourage peer-to-peer interaction and knowledge sharing
Keep learners engaged beyond just completing the course
Build a stronger connection between authors and learners
Create a continuous feedback loop to improve learner understanding and satisfaction
Encourages them to keep their courses active
How to enable course discussions
You can easily enable or disable the course discussions from your course settings. Just go to Settings >> Extra features >> Enable course discussions. You can also allow your learners to post anonymously by toggling this function on.
Note: Course discussions will be enabled by default for all new courses you create. For existing courses, you’ll need to enable it manually.
How authors can engage
As an author, you can:
Start discussions
Reply to learner posts
React to posts to encourage participation
Mark responses as resolved or answered (Learners will still see them)
Manage and moderate their own as well as learner comments
View all conversations in one consolidated discussion board
This not only helps clarify questions but also builds an ongoing learning dialogue with your learners.
You can access the discussions board either by clicking the Course discussions icon on the course card or through the three-dot menu (as shown below):
Within a course, open the discussion sidebar using the discussions icon in the top-right corner (as shown below):

As an author, you can view and manage all course discussions in one place from the dashboard pop-up. As mentioned earlier, you can access it from the course card, the three-dot menu, or the All discussions button in the in-course sidebar.
How can learners use it?
Once enabled, learners can:
Post questions or comments related to any course content
Reply to other learners or the author
Choose to post anonymously (if the option is turned on)
Learners can access discussions via the discussion icon in the top-right corner of the course or by clicking the comment icon within course pages.

Can I turn off course discussions later?
Yes. You can disable the feature anytime from your course settings.
Can discussions be moderated?
As an author, you can mark posts as resolved or answered to keep discussions organized. If needed, you can delete any off-topic or inappropriate posts and replies.
Can learners see each other’s comments?
Yes, discussions are visible to everyone taking the course (unless posted anonymously, if the option is enabled by the author).
Do learners need separate login to participate?
Course discussions are a part of courses shared via private links. So, there is no separate login requirement; it will be a part of the course shared with learners if the author has enabled the feature in the course settings.
How will I be notified about new posts and replies?
Authors will receive in-tool notifications and emails for new posts and replies.
Can other learners reply to my post?
Yes, discussions are open to all authors and learners enrolled in the course. This encourages peer-to-peer learning.
