You can export all the text in your Easygenerator course as an XLIFF 1.2 file and send it for translation. After the text is translated, you can import the file back into Easygenerator and create a new course in the target language in one click.
XLIFF is a standard format used by most translation tools and agencies. It helps you manage translations easily and keeps your course structure intact while updating only the text.

What is XLIFF?
XLIFF (XML Localization Interchange File Format) is a widely used standard for exchanging text between content platforms and translation tools. Most agencies and CAT tools support it, making the translation workflow fast and consistent.
You can edit XLIFF files using tools such as Lokalise or other online XLIFF editors.
How XLIFF export and import works in Easygenerator
Here’s the full process from export to import:
1. Create your source course
Start by creating your course in the original language (e.g., English).
2. Export the XLIFF file
Click on the three dots at the top right corner of the course editor and select: Settings → Translations tab
Under the Multi-language versions tab:
Click on Add language → Translate via XLIFF → Export as an XLIFF
Under the Independent courses tab:
Click on Agency translation (XLIFF) Export as an XLIFF → Export as an XLIFF
You can optionally enable Map HTML elements, which affects how Easygenerator structures text inside the file:
Enabled: Each non-text element becomes a
<group>with nested<trans-unit>elements.
→ Use this if your translation tool supports<group>structures.Disabled: HTML is exported as plain HTML inside the text units.
→ Use this if your tool parses HTML directly.
3. Send the file for translation
Share the exported file with your translation agency or the team handling localization. You will receive one translated XLIFF file per target language (for example: Spanish, French, German).
4. Import the translated file(s)
In your original course, return to Settings → Translations → Translate via XLIFF, click Import, and upload the translated file.
With Multi-language versions, the new translated versions of your course will be added to the list of languages.
With Independent courses translation, a new course will be automatically created in the selected language, containing all translated text.

Import will fail if the file is unchanged or contains unsupported formatting.

Text-to-Speech audio is stored in the Easygenerator Media Library as a master file, and this same audio file is reused across all course copies, including those created during translation.
Because of this, editing or replacing the audio in one course will affect every course that uses the same master audio. If you need audio in the translated language, the recommended approach is to delete the existing audio from the translated course and generate new Text-to-Speech audio in the target language. This creates a separate audio file and ensures the original master audio remains unchanged.
As a best practice, avoid editing existing Text-to-Speech audio when working with translated courses, and always create new audio files for each language version.
