As an Easygenerator author, you can record audio directly in the platform without using external tools. This allows you to use the recording immediately in your course – making it easy to add narration, explanations, or spoken instructions to your pages and questions.

All recordings are saved automatically to your Media Library, so you can reuse them across courses. You can also trim the beginning or end of each audio file to remove pauses or unwanted sections before publishing your course.

Click on the tabs below for more information.

How to record audio in Easygenerator

Where you can record audio

You can record audio in Easygenerator from several places within the tool.

1. The Add narration button in the page/question editor

  • Open a page/question > Click add narration > Select Record audio.

2. The Single audio content block

  • Open a page/question > Select Content blocksMedia & Document and drag and drop the Single audio block into the page > Click the Change audio button > Select Record audio.

  • Go to the My Library tab > Audio > Select Record audio.

    • Note: Selecting Choose from library (from either Add narration or a Single audio block) opens the Audio Library, where you can also select Record audio.

Recording your audio

  1. When you select Record audio, you will need to grant Easygenerator access to your microphone to begin the recording process.

  2. Once the permission has been granted, a new audio block will appear with recording controls.

    • Before recording, you can select your desired microphone input device under Input settings.

      • You can also use the Mic test to test your audio levels.

  3. Click Start recording (the red microphone icon).

    • You can pause and resume the recording as needed.

    • When finished, click Finish recording.

  4. After processing, the audio editor will open. Here, you can:

    • Rename the audio file

    • Trim the audio

    • Delete the audio file

When you're happy with your changes, click Done.

  5. The recorded audio will be added to your course and automatically saved in your Audio Library. From your Audio Library, you can reuse the recording in other courses as needed.

The gif below illustrates the process of audio recording and trimming (using the Add narration option), as explained above:

Trimming your audio

To trim your audio, you can adjust the start and end trim positions or drag the handles on either side of the timeline to keep only the desired part of the recording.

  • Trimming immediately after recording:

    • Click Done to save the trimmed audio.

    • Click Delete audio to discard the file and re-record.

  • Trimming an existing audio file:

    • Click Trim audio to access the audio editor.

    • Click Apply changes to save your edits.
Note: This will overwrite your original audio file.

    • Click Cancel to leave the audio unchanged.

Considerations

  • The maximum recording time is 10 minutes. When this limit is reached, the recording will stop automatically, and the audio will be processed and uploaded.

  • For the best recording experience, we recommend using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

  • Only the author who originally recorded the audio can trim it.

  • Recorded audio files are linked across courses. If you edit or trim a reused audio file in one course, the changes will overwrite the original audio everywhere it is used.

  • To start recording, you must enable microphone access in both your browser and operating system settings.
