Multi-language authoring and publishing

Learn how to publish your courses in multiple languages.

Want to share your course with learners across different languages? Easy! With Easygenerator, you can now author and publish your courses in multiple languages—all without needing to create everything from scratch each time.

Whether you’re training a global team or localizing your course for different regions, our multi-language authoring and publishing feature makes it simple to reach everyone in their language of choice.

Two ways to translate your course

You have two flexible options to translate your course on Easygenerator:

  1. Multi-language versions (within a single course)

  1. Independent courses (each language as a separate file)

Let’s walk through what each option offers and how they work.

Multi-language versions (All-in-one course)

With this option, you can create multiple language versions of your course that are all part of a single course file. This means learners can easily switch between languages while going through the course.

Think of it as a stack of translations available within your course file. The content stays the same, and so does the structure—only the language changes.

You can translate your course content in three ways:

1. EasyTranslate (Automated Translation)

  • Add as many languages as you’d like (up to 5 at a time).

  • Easygenerator will automatically translate your content using AWS and DeepL.

  • You can then review and edit the translations as needed.

Note: DeepL is the preferred translation provider for supported languages—including German, French, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, and more—while AWS covers the rest, including Spanish (Mexican), Hindi, and more.

How to use EasyTranslate:

  1. Go to Settings > Translations – or you can go directly by clicking on the translation icon at the top of the course

  2. Under the “Multi-language versions” tab, please click on “Add language” and select Auto translate

  3. Select your target languages

  4. Enable Translate subtitles under Advanced Settings (optional)

  5. Click Translate Course

You’ll be able to switch between the translated versions by clicking on the current language at the top of the course and selecting the one you’d like to check.

Notes:

  • You can make changes to the course structure only in the default course language version. Adding content blocks, pages, questions, or sections to the default language will apply to other languages, but they won’t get translated.

  • If you edit a block within a translated version, that block becomes detached from the default version. Any future changes to the same block in the default course will no longer be reflected in that translated version.

  • If you add a new page, block, or question in the default course language, it will appear in all translated versions but will not be translated automatically. You’ll need to translate the new content manually in each child language.

Retranslate option:


If you’ve made updates in the default course and want them applied to another language, go to Settings > Translations, on the Multilanguage versions tab, click the three dots next to the language, and select Retranslate. This will update the translated course with the latest content from the default version.

Important: Please keep in mind that if you have already made changes in the translated version, these will be overwritten when you retranslate.

3. Translate via XLIFF

Using XLIFF, the author and co-authors can export all course texts into an XLIFF 1.2 file in just one click and then import a translated file back. A new language version will be created with the translated texts.

3. Manually translate

Prefer more control? You can manually translate each version while still keeping everything inside one course. This is perfect if you want to fine-tune your translations for tone, terminology, or brand voice.

To manually translate your course, you’ll need to:

  1. Go to Settings > Translations – or you can go directly by clicking on the translation icon at the top of the course

  2. Under the “Multi-language versions” tab, please click on “Add language” and select Manually Translate

  3. Select your target languages

  4. The versions generated will initially be a copy of the content in your default language. You can then go into each version and manually translate this content.

This gives you full control over the translations while still keeping everything inside one course file.

Publishing is super easy too—one SCORM file, zero duplication. Export all translated versions in one SCORM package without managing separate files or cluttering up your learning platform. The same applies if you’re publishing in other formats. You can also track your learner results in one analytics view, sorted by language.

Independent courses

Prefer to keep each language as a separate course? You can do that too.

This option lets you create fully independent versions of your course — each in a different language. This is ideal if:

  • You want to customize each version beyond just translating the content.

  • You want to share specific courses with learners based on their preferred language.

  • You don’t need learners to switch between languages within the same course.

Each translated course lives on its own, making sharing and managing them super flexible.

There are two ways you can generate a new translated course with this function:

1. EasyTranslate (Automated translation)

To create an independent translated version of your course using the Automated translation, please follow the next steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Translations – or you can go directly by clicking on the translation icon at the top of the course

  2. Under the “Independent courses” tab, please click on “Translate course” at the right side of the Automated translation option

  3. Select your target languages

  4. Optionally assign co-authors to review each version

  5. Enable Translate subtitles under Advanced Settings (optional)

  6. Click Translate Course

Once the translated courses are created, you can click on “Open course” next to the language to check the respective course, or you can also find translated versions under the My Courses tab.

2. Agency translation (XLIFF)

Translate all course texts into an XLIFF 1.2 file in just one click and then import a translated file back. A new course will be created with the original texts replaced by the translated texts.

Subtitles and Text-to-speech audio in translated courses

When a course is translated automatically, both the text and the TTS (text-to-speech) audio are translated into the selected language, including the original audio script. Each translated version of the course comes with its own TTS audio, which is separate from the original ("master") version.

Important notes:

  • Subtitles in the target language won’t be translated if they already exist in the original course.

    • Example: If an English course includes subtitles in English and German, and the course is translated into German and French, only French subtitles will be generated. The existing German subtitles will not be retranslated.

  • Only subtitles matching the course’s source language are eligible for translation.

    • Example: If an English course has German subtitles and is translated into French, the German subtitles will not be translated to French, as the source language for translation (English) does not match the subtitle's language (German).

  • Translated versions will automatically include course interface labels in the target language.

  • You can set the predefined translations for specific words with the help of Glossary.
