You can place up to three content blocks side by side on a content page in Easygenerator. Drop a block next to another one, and Easygenerator creates a row that holds both blocks as columns.
This lets you build more visually varied pages without stacking everything vertically. For example:
two or three images side by side, without text: to show before/after photos or product variants.
an embedded content next to text: a form or interactive tool on one side, instructions on the other.
a video next to a table: to show a process and summarize the steps.
Drop a block next to another one, and Easygenerator creates a row that holds the blocks as columns. Here is how it works.
Before start placing content blocks side-by-side, here's some important information:
How rows and columns work in Easygenerator
A row holds 1, 2 or 3 content blocks. Each block in the row is a column.
Each block in a row stays individually editable, just like any other block.
The row has its own row toolbar, and each block keeps its own block toolbar.
Hover outside the content area to highlight the whole row and show the row toolbar above it.
Hover inside the content area to highlight a single block and show its block toolbar.
Which content blocks can you place side by side in Easygenerator?
Most content blocks can be placed side by side, with a few exceptions:
Content block | Can it go side by side? | Can side-by-side content be added inside it? |
Question blocks (All types) | No | Yes, |
Show more | No | No |
How-to | No | No |
List (all layouts) | No | No |
Carousel | No | N/A |
Note: Side-by-side content isn’t supported in the course introduction. Any content block you add there stays in its own full-width row.
How to place content blocks side by side in Easygenerator
You can create a row in two ways: by dragging a block next to another one, or by choosing the number of columns from the row toolbar.
Option 1: Drag a block next to another block
Open a content page of your course or add a new one.
Choose the block you want to place:
an existing block on the page, or
a new block from Content blocks in the left sidebar.
Drag the block to the left or right edge of the block you want it next to.
Drop it. Both blocks now sit side by side in the same row, with equal widths.
Dropping a block between two rows still adds it as a new full-width row, as it does today.
Option 2: Choose the number of columns from the row toolbar
Hover just outside the content area of a block to show the row toolbar.
In the row toolbar, click on the Columns icon
Empty column placeholders appear in the row.
Drag a new block from Content blocks in the left sidebar, or an existing block from the page, into an empty placeholder.
Note: A row can hold a maximum of 3 blocks. If you try to add a fourth block to a full row, an error will show up and the block won’t be added.
How to manage side-by-side blocks in a row
Once your blocks are in a row, you can change the number of columns, move blocks in or out of the row, and duplicate or delete them. Use the row toolbar for actions on the whole row, and each block’s toolbar for actions on that block only.
Change the number of columns in a row
Hover just outside the content area to show the row toolbar.
Click the Columns icon.
Select the number of columns you want: 1, 2 or 3.
Note: Reducing the number of columns doesn’t delete any content. The block in the last column moves down into a new row directly below. You can then keep it, move it, or delete it.
Move a block out of a row
Hover over the block to show its block toolbar.
Drag the block using the six dots.
Drop it between two rows. The block is placed in its own new full-width row.
Duplicate a block in a row
Hover over the block to show its block toolbar.
Click the Duplicate icon.
Select "Duplicate" or "Copy to" if you'd like to send the duplicate to another page or course directly.
The copy is always added as a new row below the current row, even if the row still has an empty column. To place the copy in the same row, drag it there.
Delete a block in a row
Hover over the block to show its block toolbar.
Click on the trash can icon.
If you delete the last block in a row, the row is deleted too. Rows can’t stay empty.
Duplicate or delete a whole row
Hover just outside the content area to show the row toolbar.
Click the 3-dot menu in the row toolbar.
Select Duplicate or Delete accordingly.

Do I need to update my existing courses that use 2-column or 3-column text blocks?
No. Your existing courses aren’t changed, and the Two columns and Three columns options for text, image or video blocks will look the same to learners.
You can still edit these blocks and reorder them on the page. However, you can’t duplicate them or place them side by side with other blocks, because these layouts are no longer supported.
Additionally, if you want to create a similar layout, you can recreate it with side-by-side blocks. For example, place two or three Text blocks next to each other in a row.
